Shelves Specifications
Shelf units are not free-standing; they are meant to go against a wall and be
fastened thereto.
Bays must be equal widths (meaning that all shelves are the same length).
Actual bay width is calculated from the overall width.
Shelves are built with 3/4" to 1" redwood, depending on size; varnished.
With this wood, the maximum shelf length when holding books is about 30".
Shelf back panels are 1/4" plywood, stained and varnished on inside to match
shelf structure color. Rear is unfinished.
Shelf edges align with the side panels at front.
Adjustable shelves use walnut-painted track and clip system, recessed.
Adjustable shelves require the enclosed back panel.
Other options (not shown here) are overhanging top, old-growth top (on young-growth
shelves; use Special Instructions box on the order form for these.
